We Regret The Redundancy
Posted by Kate at August 22, 2009 12:41 AMTV listings: The Prime-Time TV grid in Thursday’s Calendar section mistakenly listed MTV’s “Jackass” show on the MSNBC cable schedule at 7 and 10 p.m. where instead MSNBC’s “Countdown With Keith Olbermann” should have been listed.

OK, I think I am done with complaining about media bias...
So I will ignore all of the items in this article that were neither fact checked or even questioned by the reporter. However, there is one quote I cannot let pass.
”Obama canceled a planned appearance on the cult comedy program “Saturday Night Live…”
Does anyone really think Saturday Night Live has been a cult comedy since Dana Carvey was on it in the 80’s. Church Lady anyone?
Charlie Gibson exposes media as biased?
Charlie Gibson’s interview of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin was “aggessive” and presented a “double-standard” compared to the media’s handling of Democrat Presidential candidate Barack Obama. Even the UPI had some critical words for the handling of the interview.
The most compelling paragraph of the article is this:
”The
context of the increasingly desperate — and ugly — attacks on Palin
and her alleged lack of experience is that the Obama bandwagon, which
swept all before it from the Iowa caucuses through the end of June, is
now stalling badly and, even more worrying for the Democrats, the
malaise may be spreading to the congressional races.”
Although it is refreshing to see a media outlet be critical of another for open bias, the headline on the article that the approach “may backfire” does not seem to indicate that UPI is upset for the sake of their journalistic integrity.
Can we finally put away the argument that the media has a liberal bias as an excuse and simply treat them as hostile to non-liberals?
UPDATE: h/t Drudge
CBS is reporting a conversation with Mark Penn where Penn is quoted as saying “I think here the media is on very dangerous ground. I think that when
you see them going through every single expense report that Governor
Palin ever filed, if they don’t do that for all four of the candidates,
they’re on very dangerous ground. I think the media so far has been the
biggest loser in this race. And they continue to have growing
credibility problems.”
Quote of the night...
“The top one is 40% smaller.”
